Position: Security Supervisor

City: Mississauga, Ontario

Hours: Must be able to work 24/7 (days, afternoon, evening, overnights, weekends) ** Please note the schedule rotates meaning you must be able to workdays, afternoon, evening, overnights, weekends + holidays) **

Pay Rate: $30.01

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership, direction, and ongoing coaching and training to on-site security guards directly reporting to the Site Supervisor and Security Manager.

  • Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, in a fair and safe manner, by enforcing the Trespass to Property Act.

  • Maintaining communications with fellow Supervisors, Security Guards, Management, Customer Service and Maintenance staff.

  • Be observant and record all discrepancies, deficiencies and safety hazards noted during security patrols and take corrective action either informing the applicable department or handling it personally, whenever possible.

  • Enthusiastically conducts proactive patrols to build relationships with patrons, address policy breeches, and note facility concerns.

  • Ability to de-escalate a crisis situation, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including police, fire and paramedic resources.

  • Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner so as not to create panic among the college staff and students.

  • Maintain the peace, safety, and security of all students, college staff and clients on the property.

  • Respond to all emergency response needs such as providing first aid, missing persons, etc.

  • Ensure that the property is safe by ensuring all security measures are functioning properly.

  • Monitor CCTV surveillance systems.

  • Maintain a detailed memo book and prepare incident reports on all matters dealt with

  • Obtain statements and collect information for Incident.

  • Logging in/out of Key, Radio, and pager audits.

  • Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries.

  • Report any unsafe working conditions in any/all departments.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • A Certificate in Law & Security Administration, Police Foundations or the completion of other post-secondary education is an asset.

  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License (G Class)

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a security supervision / management capacity.

  • Minimum of 2 year of experience in a tactical security experience.

  • A proven record of experience supervising security teams and/or functions.

  • Previous law enforcement or high-profile security experience within a corporate organization, property management or public agency is preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • A fundamental knowledge of state-of-the-art security technology such as alarm and access control systems, CCTV systems, communications technologies, and general MS software programs.

  • Excellent personal computing skills to include all office related products and familiarity with specialized security applications.

  • Working knowledge of property management operations.

  • Excellent leadership skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with an emphasis on multi-tasking and shifting priorities.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professional demeanor under very stressful situations.

  • Must be self motivated and consistently show initiative.

Working Conditions

  • Required to work if necessary, various rotating shifts on short notice and be available for work in a 24x7x365 environment.

  • Could be exposed to hazardous situations and conditions when responding to or managing emergencies or incidents.

  • May be required to stand for long periods of time.
