Position Overview:

Paragon is looking for a highly motivated individual for a security dispatch operator position at an education institute in Downtown Toronto. The hours for this position are continental (0700-1900). The pay rate for the position is $18/HR.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Able to respond to incidents of crisis and determine avenues for assistance.

  • Able to utilize multiple software at once; CCTV, access control, mass notification

  • Ability to absorb information from different platforms, analyze and make decisions

  • Create and update activities in excel based dispatch for ongoing calls and incidents in a timely fashion

  • Use Alarm Monitoring software to keep track of intrusion alarms and dispatch guards to investigate

  • Monitor the CACF and use the panel functions during fire emergencies

  • Answer security related calls and dispatch guards to assist and/or investigate

  • Answer general inquiries and transferring calls to the applicable department/individual if dispatch is unable to answer the question

  • Dispatch guards to corresponding calls for service and monitor the location of all guards

  • Be knowledgeable on the layout of the property

  • Liaise with various agencies including 911 emergency call centre, TPS non-emergency, and TFS non-emergency

  • Liaise with external organizations including but not limited to fire systems service companies, elevator service companies, etc.

  • Liaise with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective and timely response

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be available to work full time, continental day shifts

  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License

  • Previous security guard experience is highly preferred

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a call centre environment (high volume intake experience preferred)

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a call taker/dispatcher in a service industry an asset

  • Ability to manage radio communications and telephone inquiries

  • Above average skills working to O365 applications including Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, Word, etc

  • Post-Secondary education in an Emergency Services Communications program preferred

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
