Our Community

At Paragon Security, we recognize the importance of embracing the diverse nature of our community. This diversity is a key element in our company’s success, as it enriches the connections we forge, fosters a culture of collaboration, and drives innovation; ultimately contributing to our growth and impact on the world around us.

Indigenous

Paragon acknowledges that our operations are situated on the traditional territories of many Indigenous nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples, as covered by Treaty 13.

We recognize that Reconciliation and Indigenization (which encompasses decolonization) are emerging areas where businesses are striving to gain a deeper understanding, particularly in light of the significant findings and recommendations in the reports of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

Visible Minorities and LGBTQIA2S+ Inclusion

We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace for all employees, with a focus on increasing recruitment of women, visible minorities, LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, Indigenous peoples, and people with disabilities. To achieve this, we are dedicated to eliminating any barriers in our employment policies and practices that may discriminate against groups and individuals protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Paragon acknowledges the substantial progress made in recent years to advance the rights of LGBTQIA2S+ individuals. Notably, in 2017, Bill C-16 amended the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code to include “gender identity and gender expression” as protected categories from discrimination, while also criminalizing discrimination based on gender identity and expression. In our ongoing efforts to maintain a level playing field and support continued progress in advancing rights, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment for all employees.

We recognize that offering specialized training for our recruiters on LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and their experiences enables them to better understand and empathize with the challenges faced by this community when entering and thriving in the workforce. Enhancing our recruiters’ knowledge of these communities ensures that those interacting with them have a more positive experience. Recruiters will be equipped to use appropriate and respectful language, significantly contributing to the establishment of strong working relationships with potential candidates.

In the ongoing conversation surrounding LGBTQIA2S+ inclusion and progress, Paragon is dedicated to assessing how we can best contribute to the community as a whole while also supporting our employees based on their personal identity choices.

Charity and Sponsorships

At Paragon, we are deeply committed to supporting community activities. By emphasizing the significance of contributing to the communities where we work and live and leading by example, we hope to inspire others to join our efforts.

Our support extends to various causes and organizations, such as Indigenous communities in Canada, Holland Bloorview Children’s Hospital, San Filippo Children’s Foundation, Islamic Society of Vaughan, Hold’em for Life Charity Challenge for cancer research, and providing bursaries to college students from marginalized groups. We firmly believe that our company’s efforts are making a substantial impact.

Our employees have also demonstrated their commitment to supporting our community. For example, one of our Site Directors advocated for the Toronto Fire Celtic Society, which organizes an annual Memorial Ride. The funds raised go to the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation, providing financial support to the families of fallen firefighters and helping their children attend post-secondary education institutions. Additionally, our security team at Bramalea City Centre raised money and collected gifts for The Salvation Army Toys for Tots Campaign.

Paragon takes pride in the initiatives our employees have taken to contribute positively to our community.
