Life Saver Stories, Spring 2023

Below are a few hero stories from our Security Guards

Security Team: Olivia Denny and Isai Lopez Take Incredible Life-Saving Measures!

Security Guard Fabio Dos Santos, Security Guard Abbygail Letrodo and Security Guard Rohit Malik all showed their tremendous bravery!
On March 16, 2022, at Atrium on Bay, Security was alerted to a female screaming and yelling in a public washroom. On entry, Paragon Security Guard Olivia Denny found a female who had reported that her male companion was unresponsive. The male was found in the bathroom stall not breathing, and his lips and face were blue.

Until EMS arrived, S/G Denny immediately began CPR compressions. Security Guard Lopez attended to assist S/G Denny and took over providing CPR. S/G Denny learned the male had taken Fentanyl; a dose of Naloxone was then administered with no response from the male. A second dose was administered. CPR ceased as the male regained consciousness. Once EMS, Fire, and Police arrived on site, they thanked both for their efforts and support. The male was later transported to a hospital.

Security Team: James Walk and Abbi GoodWin Reunite Customers with Forgotten Packages!

The customer had stepped outside the mall to take a phone call, inadvertently leaving behind the several purchases she had made. It wasn’t until she had left that she realised the packages that were left behind. Remembering where she had last left them, she called an associate to check the location.

Unfortunately, the bags were not there; however, the associate’s quick thinking suggested she check with Security. The Security Guards on duty, James and Abbi, reviewed the camera footage. The individual picking up the bags was spotted on camera and quickly located before they could exit the mall. S/G Walt and S/G Goodwin were able to retrieve the bags and return them to the rightful owner.

Security Guards are trained to make quick decisions when the unexpected occurs. There are countless more stories where situations are handled in a professional manner. A huge thank you to those who have gone above and beyond in their line of duty. Well done!
